Southeastern Plein Air Painting Festival

Gadsden Museum of Art and History hosted the first annual Southeastern Plein Air Painting Festival April 27 – May 1, 2009, and the paintings completed during the festival are now on display in our main gallery and available purchase through multiple auctions until Friday, June 5, 2009. Artists invited to particpate in the festival were recognized either regionally or nationally as plein air painters, had current first are gallery representation, sales and regional/national media exposure, represented a variety of painting medium and styles, believed in the mission of public education through demonstration of painting techniques for the public during the festival, and a minimum of thirty percent of the artits were Alabama residents.

Professional Artists who participated in the festival included: Ronald Bayens of Aubrun, AL; Donna Chieves of Birmingham, AL; Greg Little of Oakland Park, FL; Deboarh Pellock of Suwanee, GA; Brenda Plunkett of Cave Springs, GA; Jan Polk of Southgate, KY; Dmitry Proshkin of Chattanooga, TN; Rick Reinert of Charleston, SC; Craig Reynolds of Gadsden, AL; Robin Roberts of Decatur, AL; Linda Steed of Huntsville, AL; Anne Stickney of Northport, AL; Tommy Thompson of Florence, AL; and V...Vaughan of Round Rock, TX. The Wet Paint Auction was held Friday, May 1, 2009, as the closing event for the 2009 Southeastern Plein Air Festival.
